Day 42, July 8

Fair Grove to Houston, MO
82 miles

Today I saw two things I have previously seen only in movies; an Amish buggy warning sign and a Amish buggy. No picture of the second since I didn't want to be rude.

This is Tom. He is riding coast to coast to raise money for cancer research. He started in Connecticut and rode south until he linked up with the transamerica trail. His site is gotomgo.org.

Hartville, where I grabbed a snack:

Due to all the rain there are many nice creeks here. They are all either crystal clear or an odd jade color.

The landscape is also very green with some patches of flowers.

You may be successful or you may go to Houston.  For better or worse I had to go to Houston.

Below is a picture of a swimming spot I found just before Houston.

This is Jeff and Jimmy. They just graduated college and started in Washington state and linked up with the transamerica trail in Missoula. They will eventually be leaving it to ride back home to Annapolis, MA.

This is the 3rd day in a row and the 5th or 6th time we have ended up camping in the same place.  While I was ready to crash they were eager to use up some extra weight they were carrying; a bunch of fireworks.
