Day 9, June 5

Cambridge, ID to Pollock, ID.
70 miles

This morning I enjoyed a free shower in the town laundromat and got on the bike kind of late, around 8:30.  Despite the multiple riders at the campground the night before I left town solo.  Three of the other guys in the campsite were also following the transamerica bike trail but headed off to a cafe for breakfast while I was showering and I didn't see them after that.  Two of them were engineers (electrical and chemical) and the other was a medical researcher for the federal government.  Another guy was headed the opposite direction, back home to the Shasta area, and was covering an insane 120 miles or so per day.  The last guy I did not get a chance to talk to.

The early part of the day took me through farmland and the towns of Mesa and Council. Right around Council I started following a river up to Tamarack. After a lunch at Meadows I fought into the wind most of the way to Pollock, where I pulled into an RV park just as it was getting dark. I am normally not a big fan of RV parks; due mostly to the noisy generators that seem to run all night but this place was right along a large river that drowned out any other noise.  It also had some very nice showers, which was a big plus.  Some pictures from the day appear below.
