Day 17, June 13

Today was spent dodging rain, while seeing some gold rush era historical sites.

I went slightly uphill through the towns of Sheridan and Laurin, before stopping in Alder to let some ugly looking clouds pass and to have an early lunch. Once things looked somewhat clear I headed on to the preserved gold rush towns of Nevada City snd Virginia city.

In Nevada city I hung out for about an hour and a half under the corrugated steel awning of some historical building while some very heavy rain and lighning passed.

After that I headed over a very steep, unnamed pass over to Ennis, where I had an ice cream sundae before heading about 15 more miles down the road to Ruby Creek Campground.  Pictures appear below.

Piles of rocks left behind by gold mining.  These went on for about 5 miles.
